Rio is a short walk from Samara’s beach, restaurants and nightlife. You’ll love Rio because of the equipped kitchen, great outside spaces, 2 bedroom layout, handcrafted furniture and comfortable beds. Rio and 5 other villas share the Villas Espavel property nestled against the jungle and a seasonal river. With the beautiful pool and towering trees, you’ll relish the cool shade of Villas Espavel when the rest of town is scorching. Rio is good for couples, families and small groups.
Rio sleeps up to 6 guests on 3 luxurious beds in two bedrooms. Rio is pool front, with a big porch and balcony, ceiling fans, custom wood furniture, a well-equipped kitchen, dining table & hammocks. In the kitchen you’ll find a 3-burner gas stove and all the kitchen implements you’ll need to prepare beautiful meals. There are powerful ceiling fans to keep you cool; over the beds, in the living area and on the outside patio & balcony.
We spend most of our time outside and I bet you will too. Favorite pass times are swinging in the hammock while looking at the green jungle and swimming in the cool pool.
Rio is set on the peaceful grounds of Villas Espavel where you share a pool, tree-top yoga rancho, and riverfront jungle with the owner’s home and 5 other Villas. Each Villa also has its own patio or balcony. Villas Espavel is a 5 to 10-minute walk to the beach, restaurants, Intercultura language school and The Costa Rica School of Massage.
Villas Espavel is very secure as the property is hidden away down a long driveway where 4 parking spots are shared amongst the guests of Villas Espavel. All the windows have window screens and security bars.
You will see our managers Tano & Johannah, our head cleaner, Magali, and our gardener, Caliche, onsite a few days per week. If you have questions while you settle in, you can reach Johannah or Mercy & Canuche by WhatsApp. We have a washer available if you need one during your stay.

We're an active family with a 11 year old boy and 8 year old girl. Both Mercy & Canuche have worked in sustainable building in the Seattle Area before becoming your happiness engineers providing you with delight and fun in Samara, Costa Rica at Villas Espavel and in Seattle, Washington at Plum Modern. We live in Leavenworth, Washington. When we aren't helping guests create wonderful vacations, we love to cook, eat local food and spend time outside with friends and family. We are beekeepers, avid gardeners, hikers and campers. When the weather is warm we love to SUP, surf, boogie and snorkel. When the white stuff falls you'll find us on skis enjoying downhill, X-country or skate terrain. We have traveled much of the world, some of our favorite places are Costa Rica, Mexico, Turkey, Syria and Scandinavia. We love hosting people and sharing the beauty of Costa Rica and Seattle.
